The Lake House at Camellia Palms has stood on the shores of Lake Jackson for 140 years. The property was one of the first homes built in Florala and the only private venue for rent on the lake today.When you're here, you'll find yourself enjoying the stunning pink sunsets over the lake and walking among our shady palms.
Our historic home allows you to find relaxation with our quality bedding and spacious suites, to gaze out the windows, and take short, enjoyable walks into downtown Florala to coffee shops, restaurants, antique stores, and gift shops.

The crystal clear ocean water of Destin and Fort Walton Beach, Florida is less than an hour's drive. Enjoy the beach's white sands and soak up the sun -- we are just across the state line from Florida! Surf, watch dolphins, taste local seafood, and all of your other favorite beach activities are just a short trip away.

We're Tabatha & Taylor, a mother-daughter business team!

We own and operate the 1880s J.N. McClean estate, known as The Lake House at Camellia Palms, as a creative retreat center. Our story began more than 10 years before we opened our venue with Tabatha's dream to own a quilt retreat venue. Tabatha experienced joy of gathering with friends and creating beautiful quilts, works of art, while relaxing away from home when she went on her first quilt retreat.
Every part of a retreat was the real getaway - the planning, booking the retreat house, cutting fabric and gathering projects to take, cooking meals, arriving, sewing - and then counting down the days until the next retreat after it was all over. Tabatha just couldn't get this idea out of her head - to recreate this experience for creative women over and over. We opened for business in 2019 and since then, we've hosted 150+ retreats.

We LOVE hosting retreats at our historic home, as well as teaching quilting, and other creative projects. Whether we meet you in person or we only say hello via email for your private group - we want you to have the BEST possible retreat experience.
We have hosted hundreds of wonderful guests over the years and we've discovered the secret to having the absolute greatest time on a retreat. Want to know what it is?? Gratitude and a positive attitude. Having a wonderful retreat is pretty simple - show up with a grateful heart, ready to make some special memories with old friends or new ones, and have a good attitude about any unexpected bumps along the way.
