Easy Recipes for your next Quilt Retreat!

We think it goes without saying that a big component of retreats is FOOD!

Some retreats I have attended had 2 people volunteer each night to prepare dinner , and then the group either went out to eat for lunch or had leftovers.

At Camellia Palms, we provide a light complimentary breakfast selection to all of our guests, but every group is different when it comes to lunches and dinners.

Here are a few retreat friendly recipes and ideas for your sewing group!

Besides the various recipes and ideas we've put together here, you can also consider asking your guests to prepare their family favorite for your group.

Crockpot dinners are everyone's favorite go to of course.

One of the easiest crockpot meals? A taco bar!

Prepare meat ahead of time at home and warm it in the crockpot at the retreat. Chop veggies, open chips and salsa, sour cream, add cheese and tortillas and wow your guests with an easy but customizable dinner.

You could do a baked potato variation as well!

Or, if it is a hot summer day at your retreat, maybe consider a salad bar, or a variety of cool pasta salads like this chicken fajita salad.

Retreating during the winter?

A big pot of soup would be easy to prepare ahead of time and then warm up on the stove or in the crockpot, add rolls or cornbread and you have an instant meal.

We love this crockpot veggie soup, or another favorite meal I've made on retreats is this creamy chicken tortilla soup!

Now let's get into the MOST important part of any retreat...dessert!

Cookies and bars are always enjoyed and can be easily eaten on the road home too.

If there are local farmers markets nearby your destination, you could pick up some in season fruit to make a cobbler, pie or even a fruit salad.

Make ahead desserts are always a great option if you don't want to spend a lot of time in the kitchen during your retreat, like this chocolate chip cookie-inspired "lasagna."
